7 signs your business website needs a redesign.
Websites don’t fail loudly. They just quietly stop bringing customers, and because you look at your own site with owner’s eyes — you know where everything is, you remember what it cost — the decline is invisible from the inside. Here are the seven signs it’s time, ranked by how much each one is costing you.
1 · It takes more than three seconds to load
More than half of visitors abandon a page that takes over three seconds on a phone. Test yours right now on mobile data, not office Wi-Fi. Slow sites lose twice: visitors leave, and Google ranks you lower because it measures speed directly. This is usually the single highest-ROI fix on this list.
2 · It falls apart on a phone
In Malta, most local searches happen on phones — someone on the couch looking for exactly what you sell. If they have to pinch-zoom, if buttons are too small to tap, if the menu is broken: they’re gone, to a competitor whose site works.
3 · You’re invisible on Google
Search for what you do — “your service + Malta” — and see where you appear. If you’re not on the first page, your website isn’t marketing, it’s a business card nobody’s handed out. Modern SEO isn’t a plugin; it’s structure, speed, dedicated service pages and content — things a redesign bakes in from the foundation.
4 · You can’t update it yourself
If changing an opening hour means emailing someone and waiting a week — or nobody knows the login anymore — the site will inevitably drift out of date. Stale content tells visitors the business might not even be operating. A modern site gives you a simple admin where updates take a minute from your phone.
5 · It doesn’t match your business anymore
You’ve grown: new services, better clients, higher prices. But the website still shows 2019 — old photos, an old logo, services you no longer offer. Customers price you by what they see. A premium business with a budget website gets budget enquiries.
6 · Everything happens on the phone
If bookings, quotes and common questions all still arrive by phone call, your website isn’t carrying its share. A working site takes bookings at 11pm, answers the ten questions you repeat every day, and collects enquiries while you sleep. That’s staff you don’t have to hire.
7 · You get traffic but no enquiries
The subtlest one. People visit and leave silently — no calls, no forms, no bookings. That’s a conversion problem: unclear calls-to-action, a buried contact form, no reason to trust. Traffic without enquiries is a leaking bucket, and more marketing just pours faster into the same holes.
Redesign without the leap of faith.
The reason businesses put this off isn’t laziness — it’s risk. So I remove it: I’ll build a free working prototype of your redesigned website from your actual site, and present it in a one-hour call. Compare old and new side by side, then decide. Free, and the prototype is yours to keep either way.
